On July 2, 2005, the Military Writers Society of America honored Torpedo with the 2005 Admiral Nimitz Award for Outstanding Naval Fiction. The award was presented by MWSA President, W. H. (Bill) McDonald at the American Author’s Association Book Fair in Sacramento, California.

“I am greatly honored to receive this award. As a military leader, Admiral Nimitz was the stuff of legend. More than that, he was a great American citizen, and a true patriot. I’ve been privileged to serve alongside the men and women who follow in his footsteps. I’ve done my best to capture some of their spirit and dedication in the pages of my novel. If I succeeded, it’s because they set the example.”
